The Volcano Expedition Crater Tour takes place at the foothills of the mountain range of Guanacaste, at the north side of Costa Rica, standing at 6,653 feet. The highlight of this tour is to hike through the secondary crater, visit the hidden waterfall and enjoy the mud baths and hot springs).
You’ll first start with a short tractor or horseback ride up hill to take a hike through the protected area named Cabro Muco, here you’ll admire a majestic waterfall, passing over a suspension bridge. This steep trek will takes about 35 minutes through a transitional rain forest. Get a dip into the waterfall is allowed so, be prepared. Next, we’ll head back to the crater, in which you’ll enjoy an unique volcano experience like no other volcano. Here you can walk inside of the active crater trails, just next to steaming fumaroles, crystal formations, steam spewing fissures, sulfur springs, and bubbling mud pools.
Here you’ll be over an underground reservoir of geothermal energy. Be witness of this volcanic activity, very close-up like no other place in the world. After your trek inside of the crater, you will experience thermal pools, enjoy relaxing time in the therapeutic volcanic warn mud and soak in the volcanic natural hot springs.
Costa Rican Volcanoes have the privilege of being located on protected areas due to the tropical surroundings, in some of them we can find geological activity.
